"C.A.R.E Barbados, the organization for persons living with and affected by HIV and AIDS in Barbados, was started in March of 1993 by two dedicated nurses. They very strongly encouraged HIV positive persons that came to the clinic for treatment to identify with each other to provide support and strength to become empowered to cope positively with their situation. After seventeen (17) years of existence, C.A.R.E Barbados, can justly claim that the organization has made a major contribution in improving the lives of persons living with the HIV virus throughout the island through the caring, supportive environment provided for members of the group along with reaching –out to provide services, advocating for their peers while educating the wider Barbadian society about HIV and AIDS. The organization has survived and triumphed over many difficulties and, with the demonstrated dedication and commitment of the present leadership, can confidently face the future and maintain the strong position that it holds today to continue to fight for justice and the rights of People Living With HIV in Barbados."
"C.A.R.E is committed to being the voice of the HIV/AIDS community by Educating, Rehabilitating, Motivating and Networking with PLWHA, thus ensuring a better quality of life, making a valuable contribution to society and minimizing the impact of HIV/AIDS on the wider community."
"By the year 2007, C.A.R.E. will be recognized and known by Barbadian society as a dynamic organization for education to reduce the prevalence rates of HIV/AIDS in Barbados and for advocacy on behalf of PLWHA to promote protection of their human rights and to eliminate stigma and discrimination".
